KINGS HIGHWAY

King’s Highway is an eight-piece horn and percussion-heavy ensemble, playing early Jamaican jazz, folk, and spiritual music. Listeners will hear the progression of styles and island rhythms, including mento, nyabingi, calypso, and ska, highlighting the very foundational aspects of popular Caribbean music. Members of King’s Highway are internationally recognized musicians, and are current or past members of: The Skatalites, John Brown’s Body, Club d’Elf, Slightly Stoopid, Lettuce, Ryan Montbleu Band, The Boston Pops, Naya Rockers, Itzhak Perlman and others.

King’s Highway is pleased to be a Lead Partner in the March for Music Education to benefit The Alpha Institute.  As longtime and very passionate fans of Jamaican music, from mento to dancehall, we’ve been so inspired by the many artists who have passed through Alpha.  We believe in the power of music education to transform lives and have seen the central role Alpha has played in not only developing some of Jamaica’s greatest artists, but in providing the necessary life skills and training to the youth of Jamaica.  It is our pleasure to donate 10% of all performance proceeds to support student scholarships – BIG UP ALPHA!!
