SUCCESS! MARCHING ON…

The March for Music Education ended the month of March 2019 having helped to create 10 scholarships for returning and deserving music students. Through the efforts of lead partners and individual supporters worldwide, the March for Music Education community put into action meaningful relationships between Alpha, friends of Alpha, the development community and the music industry that did not exist before. Looking ahead, the stage is set for ongoing activities and activations that will continue to benefit young musicians in Jamaica.

Here is a short list of what we, as a group, were able to achieve in March 2019 for Alpha:

  • $50,000+ raised or the equivalent of 10 scholarships for talented young musicians
  • 3 named full scholarships including learning and earning opportunities for recipients
  • 3 new monthly Alpha donors who have committed to making a monthly gift
  • 3 days of workshops and 1 master class for Alpha students with Lauryn Hill’s drummer, George ‘Spanky’ McCurdy.
  • 1 international internship for an Alpha student who will travel to Canada for a conference
  • New industry relationships that will create vocational and development opportunities for the entire Alpha community
