MME SUPPORTS THE ALPHA INSTITUTE’S ‘ROAD TO SUMFEST’

The Alpha Boys Band is going to Sumfest. The legendary school is sending its award-winning senior band to the legendary stage show this Saturday July 20th. Following its performance at the Jamaica Best School band Competition where it came out on top and a well received feature appearance at the International Reggae and Music World Music Award, The Alpha Boys Band is set to be introduced to the Sumfest crowd at 8pm on Saturday in Montego Bay.

Rayven Amani, Jamaica Best School Band founder, said the Alpha Boys Band stands out for a number of reasons. “I really like their song selection. And how they presented the set was captivating from start to finish,” said Amani. “And I have to mention their image. Those bow ties and dark glasses really added to their appeal.”

Alpha’s Road To Sumfest is made possible by The Reggae Sumfest 2019 team, Down Sound Entertainment, The Denizen JA, the Cool Jerk family in Greece and March for Music Education (marchformusiceducation.org).

Steve Wilson, founder of Brand New Machine and creator of The Denizen JA experience, says the goals for the event – the most recent of which was Down Town Top Rankin at FnB/Swiss Store, have always had community impact in mind. “The Denizen JA is about forming a community for our generation, for our culture and for our community including youth. For that reason, we are partnering with the March for Music Education in support of the Alpha Boys Band Road-To-Sumfest. We know the training required for a proper music education and we know the work being done by Alpha students and alumni. Being invited to Sumfest is a great honour and we are so glad to be a part of the Alpha Boys Band development.”

Maria Papaefstathiou of the International Reggae Poster Contest and part of the Cool Jerk family, says Alpha has fans in Athens. “We listen to the radio and we think about what a difference Alpha has made on our lives,” said Papaefstathiou. “The music and the message of Alpha inspire a lot of people and we are proud to support the Alpha Boys Band because Alpha supports us!”
